Novelty 109 – Magic Wine Bottle
In this workshop you will be learning to make the gravity defying magic wine bottle cake! This is the second workshop in our Advanced Novelty program and we will be teaching students how to sculpt and suspend the cake in midair. In this workshop you will learn the techniques required to structure, sculpt and smooth a 3D cake with a focus on working with ganache and fondant as well as structuring the cake. You will then learn how to cover the shape, cover seams, and ice your board. In learning this complex novelty cake you will learn advanced novelty structure techniques developed and perfected here at Planet Cake. You will also employ many different cake decorating techniques including creating a splash, making and using templates, painting, sculpting and covering Styrofoam, airbrushing and making your own label. On completing this workshop you will be able to create complex structures for cakes; this is a very important skill for every cake decorator as some of the most incredible and in demand cakes are complex novelty cakes. Planet Cake’s goal is to teach students skills that they can replicate at home with the same results.
