Novelty 102 – Bullet Shape

In this workshop you will be decorating a bullet shaped cake with 2 different cake designs, the penguin and rocket ship; this means you will be learning two different cake designs for the price of one*! This is the second workshop in our Novelty program and you will learn the techniques required to structure, sculpt, smooth and cover a 3D standing cake, with a focus on working with ganache and fondant. You will learn how to create 2 different cake designs using the same cake but different decorating techniques. You will learn how to colour icing, cover seams, ice your board and employ six different cake decorating techniques including modelling, making and using templates, glazing, cutting and covering Styrofoam, creating the cone tip, decorating with stripes and free standing decorations (rocket legs). On completing this workshop you will be able to create whatever free standing bullet shaped cake you wish; this is a very important skill for every cake decorator as the bullet shaped cake could be adapted to create a kettle, rocket, whale, dolphin, fish or any cake that is required to be vertical. Planet Cake’s goal is to teach students skills that they can replicate at home with the same results.

*You will create a single cone shaped cake with both designs
