Basics 106 – Springtime

The sixth workshop in the Basics Series, you will be designing your own cake! Basics 106 teach students one of the industry’s most popular cake shapes, the Barrel cake. In a big move away from Basics 105, students will design their own cake under the supervision of one of Planet Cake’s senior teachers. During the two day workshop, students will focus on design principles, setting up a cylinder cake with center pole as well as piping, painting or flower/figurine modelling, dependent on student’s design (Please note the top tier is styrofoam).

Duration: 2 Day

Learning Outcomes:

• Design principles
• Decoration based on individual design
• Set up cylinder with ganache and boards
• Cover cylinder with fondant icing
• Assemble cake with centre pole
• Flower making – dependent on design
• Piping – dependent on design
• Painting – dependent on design
