Steel Magnolias Opening Night

Never one to shy away from a curly request, Planet Cake rose to the challenge Steel Magnolias presented us with in June 2009 by creating this realistic Armadillo cake filled with white chocolate cake dyed bright red! This was a replica of the red velvet armadillo cake made famous in Robert Harling's play. Australian actors including Jackie Weaver and Debra Lawrence enjoyed Margie's creation at the Sydney opening night at the Seymour Centre. The cake was so realistic it was served with matching armadillo skin cupcakes. We reckon even a real armadillo would have been hard pressed to tell the difference!
